Rundgang

We design the visual identity for Rundgang 2027, the annual exhibition of the Department of Design – from posters and flyers to social media.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for students who want to develop the visual identity of Rundgang 2026 further for 2027. Within the group we split the tasks as it suits you:

  • Concept & design: idea, typography, colours, imagery
  • Print: poster, flyer, stickers and programme
  • Social media: posts, stories and short animations for the announcement
  • Text: announcements and descriptions

You don’t have to be able to do everything. What matters is that you enjoy working together and bring your own ideas. The workshops of the Skills Lab and the Open Studio support you along the way.

Learning objectives

  • Develop a visual identity for a real event
  • Keep a design system consistent across media – print, web, social media
  • Handle requirements, coordination and feedback
  • Prepare print files and formats for production
  • Work out and follow a schedule as a team

Collaboration

The group develops the identity together and coordinates with the organising team of Rundgang 2027.

The process

  1. Kick-off: We look at the visual identity of Rundgang 2026, clarify requirements and deadlines, and collect ideas. The handover of files and the feedback from the CI team of Rundgang 2026 are our starting point.
  2. Concept: Everyone develops first approaches – together we choose a direction.
  3. Design: We develop the identity further, with an eye on typography, colours, motifs and layout.
  4. Application: Poster, flyer and social media templates take shape, coordinated with the organising team and the dean’s office of the Department of Design.
  5. Production: We prepare print files and plan the posts for the announcement.

The Rundgang

Every summer, more than 300 students of the Department of Design at Folkwang University of the Arts invite visitors to the Rundgang. Admission is free, and the students show artistic work from Photography, Industrial Design, Intermedia Design and Art and Design Studies, alongside a programme of music, dance and performance. The Rundgang is organised and curated by the students themselves – in Quartier Nord at Campus Welterbe Zollverein since 2018.
